It refers to the history of armed interventions in the Middle East and affirms that this region has been treated “as plunder for centuries by various imperialist powers.”

“It is clear to everyone that the true interest of the US is oil, as well as the strategic location of that territory,” it points out.

The PCU maintains that “an inhumane way of conducting international politics has been consolidated, which is nothing other than the imposition of the law of the strongest.”

Uruguayan communists reaffirm their “anti-imperialism and internationalism,” as well as their stance “in favor of peace, the defense of sovereignty, and the self-determination of peoples.”

The Communist Party of Uruguay (PCU) will continue to promote, “together with the Broad Front and the popular movement, initiatives in favor of peace, the defense of sovereignty and the self-determination of peoples, and against the criminal actions of imperialism,” the statement concludes.
