The Palestinian Ministry of Health explained in a statement that during this period, 726 bodies were recovered from under the rubble of the coastal enclave, devastated after more than two years of Israeli aggression.
This Saturday, the Israeli Armed Forces (IDF) killed two Palestinians and wounded four others during their incursions into the region, despite the truce in effect since last year.
According to official figures, at least 72,070 Gazans have been killed and another 171,738 injured in IDF attacks since the current wave of violence began in October 2023.
Last week, the director of medical assistance in the coastal enclave, Bassam Zaqout, warned that the Gaza Strip is heading toward a humanitarian and health collapse due to the Israeli blockade, which has led to severe shortages of vital supplies, including medicines.
Zaqout explained that the health sector is experiencing a state of “deadly stagnation” as a result of the ongoing siege and the lack of vital medical supplies at a time when poverty and unemployment rates are rising.
He denounced the large number of displaced people crammed into tents and shelters, which doubles the health risks and increases the strain on already overwhelmed medical facilities.
