Palestine pays tribute to its women amid Israeli aggression

Ramala, March 8 (Prensa Latina) The government, various political forces, and numerous Palestinian institutions paid tribute to women in the occupied territories, as they celebrated International Women's Day this Sunday.

“Our women are the epitome of defiance, steadfastness, resilience, and the building blocks of our society,” Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh stated in a press release.

“They are living up to their moral, humanitarian, and national duty in the most difficult trial we are facing as a result of the ongoing war of extermination, siege, and famine waged by the Israeli occupation,” he emphasized.

For his part, National Council President Rouhi Fattouh highlighted that women have a long history of perseverance and noted that they are a fundamental pillar in the national struggle.

“They bear the burdens of life under occupation and make great sacrifices in defense of their land and dignity,” he stressed.

Fattouh emphasized that women in the West Bank suffer attacks from extremist settlers and the army, while facing repressive policies, raids, and land confiscation, yet they “steadfastly continue their role of protecting their families and defending their people’s right to survival and freedom.”

In the Gaza Strip, he stressed, they too are experiencing profound human tragedies as a result of war, siege, and destruction.

In this regard, he denounced the fact that thousands have been killed, while thousands of mothers have lost their children, husbands, and homes.

Meanwhile, the ruling Fatah movement affirmed that Palestinian women are an essential part of the national struggle to build a sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.

They are a living and inspiring example of sacrifice, patience, achievement, and dedication, he added.
