Tran Manh made the remarks at a meeting with the subcommittees of the National People’s Council to assess and review preparations for the election of lawmakers to the 16th National Assembly (NA) and the People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
The electoral preparations are basically complete, emphasized Tran Manh, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), and expressed the shared desire of party and state leaders to achieve a high voter turnout.
He said this is a national holiday, a day for the people to exercise their right to self-government by directly casting their votes to elect the most worthy representatives to participate in the NA and the People’s Councils.
The National Electoral Council announced this Thursday at a press briefing that some 78,928,647 citizens are registered to vote at the 72,195 polling stations set up for these elections.
