“She also made some statements about what we represent. First, I thank this woman who is perhaps the best actress in the world,” the president stated in response to a question on the matter during her regular press conference.

The acclaimed actress, a three-time Oscar winner, remarked in an interview with a local media outlet that “Mexico has surpassed the United States by having a female president.”

“Although it’s not about gender, it’s great for young girls to know that anyone in the family can be a leader, to play their role with honor and good sense, which is what we want from our leaders,” she asserted during her visit here to present the film The Devil Wears Prada 2.

The Mexican president also praised Streep, whom she described as a “great actress, and also incredibly versatile,” who “can play diverse roles and has played them throughout her artistic career.”

“So, thank you for your words, and it’s wonderful that there is international recognition of what is happening in Mexico,” the president emphasized.
