In a message posted on his Twitter account, the head of state affirmed that as the country celebrates 65 years of the Pioneer Organization and 64 years of the Youth Organization, the responsibility of their members “to the future of the Homeland” is very high.
Diaz-Canel, who is also First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, told them that it is their responsibility to creatively channel the talent, energy, and natural enthusiasm of children, adolescents, and young adults.
He also encouraged them to do so in healthy environments, free from violence, alienation, and drugs.
In his message, he evoked the history of the Caribbean nation through the figure of Julio Antonio Mella, the youth leader, communist, and anti-imperialist of the early decades of the last century, whose image appears on the emblem of the Young Communist League (UJC).
Also on this day, the president of the Cuban Parliament, Esteban Lazo, conveyed his congratulations and assured them, “You are genuine protagonists of our social project, at the forefront of every task and every challenge facing the nation.”
This April 4th, the main Cuban authorities extended their congratulations to the country’s new generations on the occasion of the 65th and 64th anniversaries of the Jose Marti Pioneer Organization (OPJM) and the Young Communist League (UJC).
