The workers’ representatives are participating in the workshop “The Latin American Trade Union Movement and Political Processes in Building Unity in the Current Context,” organized by the Cuban Workers Confederation (CTC) and the Latin America and Caribbean Regional Secretariat of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU).

Collaborators, speakers, and specialists from higher education institutions and the host workers’ organization will lead the working sessions at the CTC’s Lazaro Pena Convention Center.

The meeting pays special tribute to the 100th birthday of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, the 67th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, the 173rd birthday of the apostle of Cuban independence, Jose Marti, and the 87th anniversary of the CTC.

The announcement stated that the workshop “will provide a conducive environment for generating in-depth reflections on the experiences of trade union organizations in the face of neoliberalism in the region and the articulation of effective actions to boost class unity in Latin America and the Caribbean.”

Participants in the course will also take part in other commemorative activities until May 3 for the workers’ international event, which this year takes on special significance in Cuba.

This May Day in the Caribbean nation will be held amid a complex situation, following the executive order signed by US President Donald Trump to implement an energy siege, tightened by his growing threats.
