“An engine factory for automobiles, a joint venture between AGR Holding and Defetoo, has been launched in Kaluga. The plant will become the base platform for supplying engines for all car models manufactured at the partners’ joint plants in Russia,” according to a statement from the Sputnik news agency.

The plant is expected to produce 1.6-liter (150 and 197 horsepower), 1.5-liter (147 horsepower), and 2.0-liter (197-249 horsepower) turbocharged engines, allowing the manufacturer to create a complete range for different market segments.

According to the press release, in its initial phase, the factory’s production capacity is 150,000 engines per year, but preparatory work is already underway to expand it to reach up to 300,000 annually in the future.
