Vietnam and Cuba foresee science and technology cooperation

Hanoi, Apr 23 (Prensa Latina) Tran Hong Thai, president of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, affirmed that cooperation with Cuba in these fields will be developed in all possible areas and without limits.

“We will define the missions and tasks to be deployed in the short term, not only in research, but also in the manufacture of products that benefit the health of our people,” Hong Thai, who is also a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, stated at a meeting with BioCubaFarma Business Group vice president Santiago Duenas.

The official underscored that scientific cooperation, particularly in biotechnology and the biopharmaceutical industry, is a key issue in the high-level talks between the two countries and announced the creation within the Academy of a working group tasked with implementing collaboration in these fields.

He also highlighted the great potential for creating goods and generating income by leveraging shared intelligence, and offered the facilities of that institution to Cuban scientists to carry out their research projects.

The head of the Academy of Science and Technology shared his views at a meeting before the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Cuban Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Group (BioCubaFarma) and the Institutes of Chemistry, Biology, and Materials Science of Vietnam.

Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam, Rogelio Polanco, noted that the signing of this agreement will make an important contribution to achieving the extraordinary goals that Vietnam has set in its socioeconomic development program, as well as the plans established by Cuba in the same sense.
