Centeno Rossbach led the delegation from the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), which also included Oumar Sylla, Director for the Regional Office for Africa, the local Ministry informed.
The source stated that the debate focused on scalable approaches to providing affordable housing, structured public-private partnerships, and innovative and mixed financing mechanisms.
The use of housing development as an engine for job creation and broader economic growth was also under discussion.
Sewasew emphasized the Government’s commitment to creating livable and economically dynamic cities, highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen urban governance, improve institutional coordination, and optimize service delivery.
She stressed the importance of establishing a robust framework for implementation, including clear institutional leadership, an active and well-capacity coordination mechanism, and streamlined processes for land access and project execution.
Centeno Rossbach reaffirmed UN-Habitat’s continued support for Ethiopia and welcomed the local government’s focus on practical, results-oriented strategies to accelerate housing construction.
