Guatemalan party rejects US military intervention on Cuba

Guatemala City, May 3 (Prensa Latina) The Guatemalan National Revolutionary Unity (URNG) party rejected US President Donald Trump's insinuations of a possible military intervention against Cuba and condemned the blockade against the island.

In a statement, the political force emphasized that in the centennial year of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, nothing is more fitting and exemplary to honor him than the unity and resistance demonstrated on May 1st.

The URNG described the situation as follows: unilateral coercive measures are implemented daily; cognitive and unconventional warfare proliferates; the use of force is normalized; natural resources are stolen from nations; and territories are occupied.

It also mentioned tariff impositions; threats and military interventions; constant violations of international law and the sovereignty of peoples; and the strengthening of the genocidal blockade.

And that on May 1, Donald Trump again threatened Cuba, having already issued an Executive Order reiterating the island’s designation as “an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States…”

The URNG stated that, faced with all these imposed measures, the slander and lies, and the constant threats against Cuba, which constitute an imminent declaration of war, the organization expressed its certainty that the Cuban people will continue to resist and overcome any type of aggression, including direct military aggression.

The URNG emphasized its deepest support for the people and government of Cuba; furthermore, it categorically condemned all aggression and called for the development of a Multipolar International Solidarity Front.
