To Lam’s high-level delegation to India, from May 5 to 7, includes members of the CPV Politburo and Secretariat: Nguyen Duy Ngoc, head of the Central Organization Commission, and Nguyen Thanh Nghi, head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission.
Also included are Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang; Minister of Public Security, General Luong Tam Quang; Foreign Minister, General Le Hoai Trung; and Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang, among other officials.
Vietnamese Ambassador to New Delhi, Nguyen Thanh Hai, stated that the top party leader’s trip is expected to elevate the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership into a new era, in line with the potential and position of both countries in the region and the world.
Thanh Hai first emphasized, “This visit is historic, as it marks the first time a Vietnamese Secretary-General and President has made a State visit to India, a close friend and comprehensive strategic partner.”
The ambassador added in remarks amplified by the government’s online newspaper on Monday that it coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, one of the first three established by this nation.
