A release published on the official website of the Presidency of this central region highlights that during the meeting at the local government headquarters, Rocca emphasized the commitment to strengthening ties with Cuba, based on “solidarity, responsibility, and cooperation.”
The meeting, marked by mutual understanding, addressed the difficult situation facing Cuba, primarily due to the increased economic pressure and threats of aggression from the United States, with restrictive measures that violate human rights, amid a complex global context.
The politician highlighted his region’s interest, given its significant political and economic weight in Italy, in strengthening relations with Cuba, “convinced that institutional cooperation and dialogue between regions can be concrete tools for building opportunities in all areas,” including health, education, and culture.
The Rome City Council approved a resolution on April 2 stating that “unilateral coercive measures, which affect access to essential goods, disproportionately compromise the fundamental rights of the civilian population” in Cuba, and expressing the importance of developing actions against the US blockade.
