Baghaei stated, in a post on X, that any negotiation requires a genuine effort aimed at resolving differences through dialogue.
The Iranian spokesperson also noted that the talks must be based on good faith and not on practices such as imposition, blackmail, or coercion.
The statements come after US President Donald Trump asserted that Tehran wants to reach an agreement with Washington and expressed optimism about the possibility of progress in the short term.
Trump also announced the temporary suspension of the so-called “Project Freedom,” launched to remove, from the Strait of Hormuz, vessels from countries considered neutral, citing progress toward a comprehensive understanding with Iran.
Tensions between the two countries have spiralled following the conflict that began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched operations against Iran, which responded with attacks targeting Israeli and US facilities across the region.
