Prime Minister thanks participants at FITCuba 2026

Havana, May 7 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero thanked the participants of the 44th International Tourism Fair of Cuba (FITCuba 2026), which began virtually.

Marrero issued a message this Thursday via YouTube to the attendees, expressing his satisfaction that the event was held despite the economic problems facing the country.

He referred to a series of economic actions being carried out by the government, primarily aimed at attracting foreign investment, with new approaches and a broader scope in food production and other alternatives to boost development.

In this regard, he emphasized that the push for tourism means that its revenues contribute to health, investment, and social programs, and support the repair of hotels and the development of new products that benefit this important sector.

All of this is with an eye toward when the situation improves and tourism can return to its former levels. In this way, tourism is being planned and innovated for when conditions improve, currently under pressure from the United States.

He expressed optimism because these sanctions will not last and Cuba will be ready to offer the appropriate services. He even envisions a better summer for the travel industry, targeting local and national tourism, as well as those who visit the island.

He particularly thanked the businesspeople who do business with Cuba, as every new deal and every time someone travels to the nation helps Cubans.

He concluded by stating that they can block the economy, but not the beauty, the beaches, and the hospitality of the people, because love is repaid with love.

After the presentations and welcomes, the Fair continues in virtual presentation rooms, featuring chains and companies that highlight the archipelago’s tourism potential.
