In a message posted on the X platform, the Iranian foreign minister asserted that US citizens are facing the financial consequences of “an unnecessary war against Iran.”
Araghchi warned that the situation could worsen when US public debt and mortgage interest rates begin to rise.
The foreign minister also pointed to the increase in US Treasury bond yields and accompanied his post with a graph showing the evolution of these financial indicators.
“All of this could have been avoided,” the Iranian official emphasized, referring to the tensions between Washington and Tehran.
US media outlets, including CBS News, previously cited an informed source stating that the cost of US attacks against Iran amounts to approximately $50 billion, a figure higher than the roughly $25 billion admitted by the Pentagon.
According to Araghchi, the actual cost of the military operations is more than four times the amount officially announced by the US Department of Defense.
