“The Secretary of State is repeating his mendacious script and trying to blame the Cuban government for the ruthless damage the U.S. government inflicts on the Cuban people,” he commented.

“Rubio is the spokesperson for corrupt and vindictive interests, concentrated in South Florida, which do not represent the feelings of the majority of the American people, nor of the Cubans who live there,” the Foreign Minister wrote in X.

“He continues to talk about $100 million in aid that Cuba has not rejected, but whose cynicism is evident to anyone given the devastating effect of the economic blockade and the energy embargo,” he continued.

Bruno Rodriguez argued that the Secretary of State is exploiting the infamous date of May 20th, which inaugurated a neocolonial period for Cuba, as a dependent appendage of the United States, a status to which the top U.S. diplomat wants Cuba to return. Marco Rubio stated that May 20, 1902, represents Cuba’s independence, highlighting that on that day the Cuban flag flew for the first time in a sovereign country, but without acknowledging that the Caribbean nation ceased being a colony of Spain to become a neocolony of the United States.

He also noted that the current situation on the island is critical, mentioning prolonged blackouts, shortages of food, fuel, and electricity, but failed to mention that the economic, commercial, and financial blockade, compounded by the oil embargo, is responsible for the shortages suffered by the Cuban population and is the main obstacle to the country’s development.
