The seminar will address issues related to sovereignty and the colonial processes that persist in some nations.

Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Valdrack Jaentschke emphasized on local television that holding the event is a recognition of his country’s active participation on that issue and the Sandinista Government’s stance against all forms of colonialism.

Jaentschke noted that this will be the third time that Nicaragua has hosted such an event, where the remnants of the colonial period and hegemonic practices that, he affirmed, seek to maintain mechanisms of domination and destabilization over countries of the Global South, will once again be debated.

The diplomat highlighted the pride in organizing the seminar and affirmed that it is an example of international recognition of Nicaragua’s leadership and firm position on issues related to the sovereignty and self-determination of peoples.

Representatives from Antigua and Barbuda, Algeria, Angola, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Belize, Bolivia, Burundi, Chile, China, Comoros, Cote d’Ivoire, Cuba, Dominica, Spain, Fiji, France, Gabon, Gambia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Iran, and Liberia, among other nations, are attending the ambassadorial-level meeting.
