Bolivia: Journalists urge dialogue to achieve peace

La Paz, 26 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia's media organizations and press workers reiterated their call to consolidate a dialogue platform aimed at achieving peace in the country, especially in La Paz and El Alto municipality.

These organizations reiterated in a statement the need to establish a platform that fosters reconciliation among different social sectors and safeguards the rights and freedoms of the population.

This call comes as the country enters its 26th day of marches and blockades, in which several social sectors are demanding the resignation of President Rodrigo Paz.

The associations pointed out that the conflict has taken on political characteristics and stated that the situation affects rights related to life, physical integrity, health, food, basic services, freedom of speech, information, work, education, and freedom of movement.

The document warned of the risks of institutional deterioration and emphasized that the current situation must be avoided through the participation of all stakeholders.

The Bolivian Broadcasters Association, the National Association of Journalists of Bolivia, the National Press Association, the Bolivian Association of Communication Researchers, the Bolivian Press Workers’ Confederation, and the National Council of Journalistic Ethics signed the statement.
