“The inclusion of President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez and his wife on a spurious and unilateral list of ‘sanctions’ is an offense against international law based on slander to justify a criminal economic, commercial, and financial blockade against an entire people for more than six decades,” states the text sent to Prensa Latina.
The statement adds that the measures and threats to include leaders of Cuban institutions, organizations, and companies in sanction proceedings and orders are an attempt to demonstrate “President Donald Trump’s sickening authority to disguise the defeat suffered alongside Israel in the war against Iran.”
The text argues that the White House’s renewed offensive, amid its economic and moral decline as an empire, seeks to regain control over the Latin American and Caribbean region. To this end, the hawks of U.S. policy are resorting to all forms of aggression, including military action.
The statement warns, however, that Cuba will prevail as a bastion of the people’s struggle for sovereignty and independence.
On this matter, it remembers that, in 67 years of Revolution, the Caribbean nation and its people have maintained high standards in health, education, culture, sports, and scientific and creative development, along with exemplary solidarity with the entire world, including sectors of the European population.
The Guevarists assert that the empire lacks the capacity and understanding to appreciate Cuba’s human value, while reaffirming “All the denunciations we made previously, and which we stated forcefully and resolutely: the empire will not prevail over the Cuban Revolution.”
