Diaz-Canel thanks Mexico and Belize for solidarity with Cuba

Havana, Jun 8 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel expressed his gratitude for the solidarity shown by Mexico and Belize following the arrival of a shipment of 1,700 tons of food and basic supplies to support the Cuban people.

In a message posted on the social network X, the president highlighted the joint effort of both governments, solidarity groups, Cubans residing in those countries, and the newspaper La Jornada.

“We appreciate this show of solidarity in such difficult times,” Diaz-Canel wrote.

The commercial vessel Asian Katra arrived at the port of Havana carrying essential goods intended to lessen the impact of the energy crisis and the tightening of the blockade on the population.

Minister of Domestic Trade Betsy Diaz highlighted the unconditional and historic support of Mexico and Belize during the ship’s arrival, and thanked the authorities, prominent figures, and organizations of both nations that have expressed their support for Cuba.

She also explained that state and non-state economic actors will participate in the distribution to ensure that the resources reach the population efficiently.
