The Freedoms Committee of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) condemned in a statement the “significant escalation in violations and attacks” conducted by Israeli forces.
The institution highlighted that during that month, two journalists were wounded by gunfire from Israeli security forces, 30 were arrested, five were attacked with tear gas, and two pieces of equipment were confiscated.
The statement underscored that such practices are a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and treaties relating to freedom of expression, which guarantee the protection of journalists in the exercise of their profession.
The PJS recently accused Israel of committing nearly 4,000 violations against the sector since the beginning of the current wave of violence in October 2023.
