Delegations from 14 nations to attend Russia-ASEAN Summit

Moscow, Jun 16 (Prensa Latina) An estimated 14 foreign delegations are arriving in Kazan to participate in the Russia-Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev will reportedly travel to that city to take part in the Summit sessions, which will be held from June 17 to 19.

Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin commented that such forums take the city to a new level of development, especially regarding visitor services, from the airport to the hotel complex, and described it as a serious test and a great responsibility.

ASEAN comprises 11 countries: Brunei, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Russia has been an ASEAN dialogue partner since 1991.
