According to the Ministry of Health, as part of the response to the outbreak, mobile laboratories with the capacity to analyze up to 2,000 samples daily have also been deployed, which has speeded up the detection of patients.
To date, Ebola is present in three provinces: Ituri, the most affected with approximately 91% of the cases, North Kivu, and South Kivu.
In total, there are 33 health zones with reported cases, and 78 people have recovered. More than 6,000 contacts are currently under medical observation, the ministry stated, adding that the government has already mobilized $50 million, with the support of its partners, to back the response operations.
In this regard, Health Minister Roger Kamba stated that it is necessary to strengthen transparency in the management of funds and submit regular reports to the national coordination team.
