Cuban President highlights presence of rescue workers in Venezuela

Havana, Jun 29 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Diaz-Canel highlighted the presence of a team of Cuban rescue workers in the disaster zone in Venezuela, where two earthquakes left approximately 1,450 dead and more than 3,000 injured.

“Cuban rescue workers are already in the disaster zone, and our doctors have joined in treating the injured from the very first moment. We continue to stand with all the Cubans there, their families, and beloved Venezuela,” the president stated on social media.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez also affirmed that the arrival in Caracas of a group of relief workers to assist in the search for trapped individuals shows solidarity with the people of that South American nation.

The brigade members were welcomed by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry’s Deputy Minister for Latin America, Mauricio Rodriguez, and Ambassador Jorge Mayo Fernandez.

In Venezuela, Cuban medical brigades have been working to treat those injured in last Wednesday’s earthquakes since the very first hours of the tragedy.
