The Foreign Ministry stated that the group will be headed by Luis Roquebert, director general of the Panama Maritime Authority (PMA), accompanied by his technical team.
This meeting in Beijing comes after requests made by the administration of President Jose Raul Mulino regarding inspections and detentions of Panamanian-flagged ships in Chinese ports.
The Ministry noted that both parties will hold talks focused on renewing the Maritime Transport Agreement between Panama and China.
The Executive said the visit seeks to strengthen cooperation between the two countries on maritime trade, navigational safety, and the strengthening of the Panamanian maritime sector’s capabilities.
