A statement from the organization expressed that, despite the “devious pressures and the brazen attempt” by the US administration to prevent the airing of the genocidal economic, commercial, and financial blockade that has been suffocating the Cuban people for over six decades, the “international community said enough.”

  It noted that, with 136 votes in favor, only nine opposing and 30 that abstained, the Assembly agreed to hold the debate proposed by Cuba under agenda item 38: “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba.”

  It pointed out that Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez aptly described this measure as a “multidimensional, unconventional war that has lasted nearly seven decades and has become more ruthless in the last seven months.”

  For the Movement, the attempt by the US delegation to silence the debate and hide the terrible consequences of its criminal blockade from the world was “grotesque, immoral, and deeply despicable.”

  But even more execrable, it asserted, was the “ill-advised, fallacious, and shameful intervention by Representative (Mike) Waltz,” who, with the arrogance of someone believing they possess the absolute truth, dared to slander the immortal legacy of three giants of revolutionary history: Commander Ernesto Che Guevara, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, and Army General Raúl Castro.

It also highlighted that, in the face of that machinery of death, the Cuban Medical Missions shine brightly; “with heroism and professionalism,” they save lives in the most remote corners of the planet, bringing health and hope where the US government brings only bombs and destruction.
