In a statement published by several media outlets and reproduced in full by the Government Portal, the agenda for the meeting, which began in Hanoi and was chaired by Tran Thanh Man, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Speaker of the National Assembly (Parliament), was not detailed.
Before the meeting, the delegates, led by Communist Party of Vietnam’s Secretary General and President To Lam, offered incense at the Monument of Heroic Martyrs on Bac Son Street in downtown Hanoi.
During Monday’s session, the delegates removed Bui Van Hai, former member of the 12th Central Committee (now the 14th), from all his Party posts.
Van Hai had previously served as Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council of Bac Giang (now Bac Ninh Province).
Participants later worked in groups to assess changes to Vietnam’s development model, focusing on improving political institutions and increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of land management and use.
To Lam called at the Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) to remove obstacles, free up resources, and generate new engines of growth, after delivering the opening address.
