The same source reported shortly before on its official social media channels that Units One and Three of Energas Varadero were synchronized with the SEN.
It also stated that Unit Five of the Maximo Gomez Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE) in Mariel, Units One and Two of the Ernesto Guevara CTE in Santa Cruz del Norte, and the combined cycle plant of Energas in Boca de Jaruco were in the process of starting up.
A partial disconnection of the SEN occurred this Saturday at 18:07 hours (local time) in western Cuba, due to failures in the 220-kw power lines in the provinces of Matanzas, Cienfuegos, and between Matanzas and Villa Clara, causing disruptions throughout the country’s western region.
Cuban Energy and Mines Minister Vicente de la O Levy recently ruled out that the SEN collapses were due to operational failures, attributing them instead to the conditions the sector faces due to the tightened US blockade.
