The initiative will take place within the framework of the activities commemorating the 100th birthday of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and is part of the solidarity project “Ecuador Extiende su Mano a Cuba” (Ecuador Extends a Hand to Cuba) and the World Marathon of Love for Cuba.
Under the slogan “Solidarity Breaks the Blockade,” the organization aims to support the Caribbean nation’s healthcare system, which is affected by limitations resulting from the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
Pablo A. de la Vega, a member of the Coordinating Committee’s International Relations team, told Prensa Latina that the aid will be delivered in public events at the “10 de Octubre” Clinical Surgical Teaching Hospital and the “William Soler” Pediatric Hospital, both in the Cuban capital.
De la Vega stated that the Ecuadorian delegation will conduct a humanitarian mission to contribute to the island’s healthcare system by delivering supplies.
