M. Jahangir Khan, president of the Global Farmy Study of Cuba, spoke at the event about the need to support the Caribbean nation, which is bravely resisting the aggressive economic war waged by the United States.

Earlier, a commemorative discussion was held featuring remarks by Samsul Houqe Sagor, editor of Printoline in Dhaka, while Abu Taher Bokul recited a poem by M. Jahangir Khan.

The event was attended by nearly 50 local workers and students and took place at the Printoline facilities.

The Global Farmy Study of Cuba also organized a campaign to collect 10,000 signatures in solidarity with the Caribbean country, as part of the activities marking the centenary of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution. Fidel Castro’s figure and ideas are highly regarded among peace-loving people in Bangladesh—a country with which Cuba officially established ties in 1972, immediately following the South Asian nation’s independence.

In 1973, during the Non-Aligned Movement Summit held in Algiers, Fidel embraced Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who is considered the founding father of Bangladesh.
