Writing on his X account, he stated that amidst such a difficult and painful time, Education Minister Viviane Morales “has decided to launch a fundamentalist crusade against the teaching profession—a persecution that is not only authoritarian but also obscurantist.”

  The congressman’s remarks followed the minister’s claim that “there has been a ‘woke’ campaign that has introduced a number of subtle moves to take over teaching and the education of children, especially within the comprehensive sex education program.”

  Cepeda warned that these announcements come precisely when—according to official figures—3,470 educational centers across 471 municipalities in 15 departments have been affected by the earthquake.

  He argued that these decisions show that the rhetoric regarding “the people” used by U.S. citizen [De la Espriella] is nothing but lies and demagoguery.

  “This government is against the people and against the workers. That is how we must confront it,” Cepeda asserted.

  According to Carolina Carcho, a fellow senator from the Historic Pact (Pacto Historico), the “corporate government” of Abelardo de la Espriella—under the false pretext of an alleged administrative cleanup—”dealt a lethal blow to this country’s working class in recent days through Resolution 2708 of 2026.”

  She argued that by repealing 11 key circulars, “employer abuse is being legalized.”
