Ismaïl Ould Cheikh Ahmed (born on November 9, 1960) is a Mauritanian diplomat and politician.
He served as the UN Special Envoy for Yemen and thus head of the Office of the Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen from 2015 to 2018.
Prior to that position, Ahmed served as the UN Special Representative for the United Nations Mission for the Ebola Emergency Response.
He was also Deputy Special Representative and Deputy Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya.
Prior to this new position he was Mauritania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs from June 11, 2018 to March 31, 2022.
