“We precisely commemorate in September the 50th anniversary of leader Kaysone Phomvihane’s arrival in Havana, his friendship with Fidel, and the commitment to developing cooperative relations between Cuba and Laos,” the island’s Ambassador to this nation, Enna Viant Valdes, stated.
“We take pride in the significance of international cooperation, of which the participants are a living example,” Viant Valdes said before graduates of the International School of Physical Education and Sports and the Manuel Fajardo University of Physical Culture and Sports Sciences, the latter’s dean, Silvano Merced, was also among the participants.
The meeting was an emotional tribute to the role that Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz played in developing this vital sector, highlighting his legacy and contributions in essential and far-reaching aspects.
Merced, who had been visiting the country until Saturday, said invoking Fidel Castro must not be merely an act of nostalgia, but rather a call to action for current and future generations.
