The news agency announced that Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud made the call during his address to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
Farhan Al Saud noted that the current session is taking place due to “unprecedented” challenges that evolve rapidly.
The foreign minister affirmed that Saudi Arabia and other States in the region had been targeted by what he described as “brutal Iranian attacks,” while reaffirming the Kingdom’s “full right to protect its security and sovereignty” and calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities.
The diplomat underscored that the security of Persian Gulf countries is “a comprehensive part of regional and global security” and noted that efforts to restore stability cannot be based on “hegemony and the exploitation of crises,” but rather on mutual respect and good-neighborly relations.
Farhan Al Saud also expressed his country’s rejection of “all acts committed by the Houthi militia in Yemen that threaten shipping in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea.”
