The gathering took place as part of the International Campaign Against the Blockade and was also attended by Nicaraguans who are friends of Cuba.
The event highlighted the importance of preserving Cuban traditions and roots abroad, as well as strengthening bonds of fraternity among community members.
During the celebration, attendees also raised their voices against the policy of economic, commercial, financial, and oil-related blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States government.
Speaking on behalf of the community, young Camila Rodriguez denounced the intensification of the US blockade—which has lasted for over six decades—and reaffirmed the community’s commitment to unity and the defense of the Caribbean nation’s identity and culture.
She also expressed the community’s support for the positions upheld by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez during his participation in the high-level segment of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
She called for strengthening solidarity and fraternity among her compatriots, while emphasizing the importance of keeping national traditions and identity alive.
