Cepeda rejected President Abelardo de la Espriella’s overtures to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the potential social costs from negotiations with that institution.
The congressman warned on his X profile, “We know the consequences of this indebtedness, as it causes a series of structural changes to the State, privatizations and policies that will undoubtedly be disastrous for broad sectors of the population. They will lead to impoverishment among the middle class and the most vulnerable sectors.”
He also condemned De la Espriella’s activities in the Public Forces and operations that have long been standard practice, and shows where he appears “not as a head of State, but as part of some sort of assault squad.”
Cepeda regretted the president’s failure to speak out regarding violent incidents that could indicate human rights violations.
