The armed assault in the municipality of Gros-Morne was attributed to gunmen from the “Kokorat san ras” gang, a group also responsible for attacks on other communities in the region, such as Savann Long, Grepin, and Dosni, the newspaper Le Nouvelliste added.

The targets of the attack—carried out with the characteristic violence employed by these irregular groups—were various groups of citizens going about their daily activities in the area, the source specified.

This latest aggression followed an operation by the so-called Gang Repression Force against members of the aforementioned armed group.

Human rights organizations called for the deployment of specialized units and armored vehicles to the municipality and denounced what they described as the authorities’ “passivity and complicit silence” regarding the repeated gang attacks.
