AMCRP President Humberto Perez told Prensa Latina that the meeting is held during one of the most complex moments in the Caribbean nation’s recent history.
“This is not just another meeting,” Perez underscored, noting that the event is an opportunity to show that geographical distance does not split Cubans; rather, it can become a factor for greater unity on culture, roots, and national identity.
The AMCRP president explained that the meeting would debate the willingness of the Cubans living abroad to actively participate in the economic development of the Caribbean nation, as well as reaffirm their commitment to defending the homeland.
The leader remarked that this commitment goes beyond the symbolic thing and contribution from abroad, using truth and dignity as primary tools, while calling for the consolidation of an organization that is “more coordinated, more visible, and more useful” to Cuba and the Cuban residents in Panama.
Reflecting on the period since the 13th National Meeting, he highlighted the AMCRP representatives’ participation in the 8th Regional Meeting for Latin America and the Caribbean, held in Uruguay, where the Montevideo Declaration was adopted.
Perez noted that such a document condemned the tightened US blockade and the new unilateral coercive measures against Cuba.
