Ortega highlighted on national television the results of a recent visit by a Nicaraguan delegation to Belarus to participate in the Industrial Forum (Innoprom) and held bilateral meetings with institutions linked to collaboration programs between the two countries.
The official underscored that, starting in 2023, the two governments established a cooperation program that includes export credits and measures to strengthen Nicaragua’s productive capacities.
On infrastructure, he explained that since 2024, Nicaragua has received shipments of Belarusian machinery for municipal governments and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure to support municipal cleanup, street maintenance, and construction work.
In the agricultural sector, he highlighted scientific-technical cooperation between institutions and universities in both countries, which has facilitated the exchange of knowledge and genetic material for cultivating potato and onion varieties in Nicaragua.
He noted that such efforts improve productivity, strengthen food security and sovereignty, supply the domestic market, and generate surpluses with export potential.
Ortega also stressed opportunities to diversify Nicaraguan trade by accessing other markets, such as Russia, China, and other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
