AMCRP’s President Humberto Perez recently told Prensa Latina that the meeting is taking place during one of the most complex periods in the Caribbean nation’s recent history.
Perez asserted that this exchange will show once again that, far from causing division, geographic distance can become a unity centered on culture, roots, and national identity.
Perez noted that discussions would focus on the willingness of the Cubans living abroad to be part of the economic development of the Caribbean nation, and on reaffirming their commitment to defending the homeland.
After accessing the period since the 13th National Meeting, he highlighted the AMCRP representatives’ participation in the 8th Regional Meeting for Latin America and the Caribbean, held in Uruguay, where the Montevideo Declaration was adopted.
That document, Perez pointed out, denounced the tightening of the US blockade and the new unilateral coercive measures against Cuba.
