Forest fire in eastern Cuba affects thousands of hectares

Havana, Mar 2 (Prensa Latina) More than 3,600 hectares of pine forests, grasslands and coffee trees have so far been affected by a big fire in Pinares de Mayari, in eastern Cuba, environmental authorities reported on Thursday.

Santiago de Chile, Feb 16 (Prensa Latina) A total of 53 forest fires remain active today in central-southern Chile, where the flames have devoured 434,000 hectares, according to the latest balance of the National Service for Disaster Prevention and Response (Senapred). According to Senapred, another 143 outbreaks have been controlled and 13 have been extinguished.
