Mass Grave with Hundreds of IS-Executed People Found in Iraq
11 de marzo de 2017, 15:39Baghdad, Mar 11 (Prensa Latina) Iraqi Shiite militia members of the Hashed al-Shaabi (People''s Mobilization) reported today the find, near Mosul, of a mass grave with the remains of people killed by the Islamic State (IS).
A spokesperson for the Iraqi Army reported that around 500 mortal remains had been found at the Badush prison, located in the outskirts of that northern city, the second most important in the country and capital of Nineveh Governorate.
According to the source, the remains could belong to the 600 people that the Sunni terrorists kidnapped and imprisoned in 2014, shortly after taking Mosul, while media outlets recalled that hundreds of women of the Yazidi minority had been imprisoned and humiliated in Badush.
Many members of the religious Yazidi minority were victims of a campaign of executions, kidnappings and rapes by the Jihadists, who killed the men and took women and girls as sexual slaves, according to several reports.
The Shiite volunteers from the People's Mobilization participated, together with the Counter-Terrorist Service, the Army and the Interior Ministry's Rapid Response Force, in the reoccupation of that prison and surrounding areas that were under control of the extremist IS.
Although the number is still unconfirmed by independent sources, the Iraqi authorities and the command of the People's Mobilization said their statements were based on data provided by an international humanitarian organization, according to which, the IS executed up to 600 prisoners there on June 10, 2014.
