Uruguay: Groups organize caravan for Cuba and against US blockade

Montevideo, Feb 23 (Prensa Latina) Uruguayan groups and activists are organizing a caravan that will travel through areas of the Montevideo Metropolitan Area in repudiation of the US blockade against Cuba and in support of the Caribbean island.

This initiative, under the slogan “Caravan for peace and against the imperialist blockade, solidarity with Cuba,” was convened by the Uruguayan Anti-Imperialist Committee of Solidarity with Cuba and the Peoples of the World.

The committee includes, among other organizations, the PIT-CNT trade union, the Broad Front (Frente Amplio-FA) coalition, the Uruguayan Federation of Mutual Aid Cooperatives (FUCVAM), and the Federation of Uruguayan University Students (FEUU).

It also includes the Crysol group of former political prisoners, the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity, the Coordinating Committee in Support of the Cuban Revolution, the association of doctors who graduated from the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), and Mundo Afro.

The caravan will take place on February 28 with rallies in Ciudad de la Costa (Canelones), Ruta 8, Ruta 6, Ruta 5, Plaza Lafone, and Ciudad del Plata (San Jose).
