Within the country's comprehensive development program for 2025, called the Bicentennial Agenda, the need for peaceful nuclear technology is evident to benefit the health, industry, science and technology sectors.
The executive director of the Bolivian Nuclear Energy Agency (ABEN), Hortensia Jiménez, explained to the press they will enhance advances in scientific and technological research, as well as the supply and marketing of goods and services.
With this objective, the construction of a Center for Research and Development in Nuclear Technology is underway, as well as three Institutes of Nuclear Medicine and Cancer Treatment, equipped with the latest technology.
The Center for Research and Development in Nuclear Technology will be based in District 8 of the City of El Alto, and will also contribute to the training of human resources in that area.
On the other hand, the institutes will be located in the cities of La Paz, El Alto and Santa Cruz, and in their facilities, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, neurological and cardiac conditions will be carried out.
In addition, this institute will feature the services of Nuclear Medicine, Clinical Oncology and Oncological Radiotherapy.
