Syria resumes university classes
Damascus (Prensa Latina) More than 700.000 students attended the resumption of classes at Syria's universities and higher education institutions on Sunday, the Education Ministry reported.
Riyad Taifour, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Student Affairs, said the number of students reached 750,000, while those who will complete the open learning exams are estimated at 130,000.
After a two-and-a-half month suspension, these centers were reopened to complete the second semester of the 2019-2020 academic year, in parallel with the resumption of open learning exams for the first semester and based on measures taken to address the coronavirus pandemic.
In this way, this nation is gradually easing restrictions due to the pandemic, including the end of a daily curfew and transportation between provinces.
However, border closures and suspension of classes in primary and secondary schools remain, in addition to restrictions on mass public activities, in line with the precautions taken in this regard.
