Puebla Group rejects arrival of US troops to Colombia
Buenos Aires, Jun 1 (Prensa Latina) Puebla Group, a progressive alliance made up of various leaders and former presidents from 13 countries, on Monday rejected the arrival of a US Army brigade to Colombia in coming days.
In a statement, the Puebla Group described as illegal the recent agreement signed between the US Embassy in Colombia and the Colombian Ministry of Defense about the arrival of a brigade of the US Army for 'force assistance' in early June.
The alliance also repudiates the measure that involves the presence in Colombia of soldiers in several conflict zones, among them, some located on the border between this country and Venezuela, such as northern Santander and Arauca.
Founded in July 2019 in the Mexican city of Puebla, the forum is made up of 41 leaders from 13 countries, among them several former presidents and figures from Colombia itself, such as Ernesto Samper, former President and former Secretary General of UNASUR.
