Paraguayan foreign minister inaugurates MERCOSUR meeting
Asuncion, Jul 1 (Prensa Latina) Paraguayan Foreign Minister Antonio Rivas on Wednesday inaugurated the 56th Ordinary Meeting of the Common Market Council (CMC) of the MERCOSUR Summit that will end in Asuncion on Thursday.
The high body of the regional bloc is in charge of policies and the decision-making process to guarantee compliance with the objectives of integration.
The director of Economic Policy at the Foreign Ministry, Raul Cano, pointed out that the meeting will be held at the level of ministers of foreign affairs, economy, finance, industry and trade, and the presidents of Central Banks.
The head of Paraguayan diplomacy noted that the MERCOSUR Summit, which opened virtually on June 29, has made achievements in the legal review of the free trade agreement with the European Union.
He added that during its pro tempore presidency, Paraguay paved the way to the review of the document on the free trade agreement to be translated into the 17 languages of the European Union.
'The European parliaments are expected to discuss the deal in December 2020,' he said.
