Emergency situation in Serbian capital due to Covid-19
Belgrade, Jul 3 (Prensa Latina) Due to the strong outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in Serbia, Belgrade Mayor Zoran Radojcic on Friday proclaimed the emergency situation nearly two months after the return of the so-called new normal life.
The decision, according to the mayor's statements, will allow taking preventive measures to protect the people's lives.
He added that the decision is coming into force right away, and noted that the capital, with a population of 1.374 million, reports 82.55% of new SARS- CoV-2 cases in the country, the main reason to take restrictive actions.
He underlined that the three main measures refer to meetings in closed and open premises (a maximum of 100 and 500 people, respectively), work in nightclubs and cafes (closed from 23:00 to 06:00 hours) and the mandatory use of facemasks, on pain of paying high fines.
The Serbian Government met on Friday to analyze all preventive modalities in towns and cities where the emergency situation is declared due to the strong Covid-19 outbreak.
