Brasilia, Jul 10 (Prensa Latina) The Cuba-Brazil Chamber of Commerce sent 17 tons of cleaning materials for hospital facilities on the Caribbean island, donated by friends from various sectors, the Cuban consulate in Sao Paulo confirmed this Friday.
The diplomatic representation indicated that on July 3 the container arrived in Havana, where it was received by authorities of the Medicuba Company and the Cuban Chamber of Commerce.
According to a note from the consulate, the donation helps the small country to face the serious consequences caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, in the midst of the strengthening of the U.S. blockade that has been damaging the Cuban people for more than 60 years.
It said that the Brazil-Cuba Business Chamber, a non-profit entity headed by Vladimir Guilhamat, is working hard to send a second container with the necessary resources soon.
This second aid will also come from donations from entrepreneurs and various sources, including Cuban residents and solidarity organizations.
Recently, the International Committee for Peace, Justice and Dignity for the Peoples - Brazil Chapter praised the initiative of the Brazil-Cuba Business Chamber and solidarity friends.
It said that Cuba continues to fight Covid-19 and with its limited resources contributes, with the renowned Henry Reeve Internationalist Brigade contingent, to dozens of other countries suffering from the disease.
